Be Christ to the Blind
My Kidney Transplant Story
A Kidney for Junar
On July 5, 2022, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Since that day I have been on dialysis three times a week.
Filling Tummies and Backpacks
Each week Ramon and Kring Leaño and their family host a children’s ministry event and feeding program. Recently they made a delicious and nutritious chicken porridge. Porridge, a simple meal that is easy to serve and eat, is very nourishing for the body.
He Will Wipe Away Every Tear
That these stories–and so many, many more–are real and are happening even now should affect me and compel me. They should move me into action as my heart is broken and put back together to look more like Jesus’ heart, which burns extra brightly with love for the poor.
The Ultimate Matchmaker
When I joined FMC in 2013, my biggest struggle was the first-year “no dating” commitment. I had just ended a five-year relationship with the man I planned to marry. When the Lord called me to become a missionary, He asked me to abandon what I had planned for myself, to follow His plans. I said yes and let go.
A Filipino American Missionary
I did not know any English, but I knew how to say “work.” They let me help clean the yard, pull weeds, and build them a garden.
FMC Classic Post: God and a Neighborhood Cutie Competition
This is a story from my time in the Philippines in 2012. The work of a Catholic missionary is not the same as a social worker. We want to help people in not just temporary ways, but in ways that will last for eternity. We want to introduce them to the One who will stay even when we are gone….
Forgiveness in Prison
Every year during Benedictine College’s mission trip to the Philippines, FMC hosts a medical clinic for inmates at the Malaybalay City Jail. On Benedictine’s most recent trip, we were separated into teams: checking vitals, diagnosing, giving medicine, and praying over the inmates. I was on the prayer team.

The Gospel of Matthew, according to Alex
[Jason and Jessica Wilde, and their children Grace (10), Brecklyn (8), Alex (7), and Chi Yu (4), recently went on a medical mission trip with FMC in the Philippines. The following post, published here with permission, is from their blog.] The dim hospital room was packed full of 15 or 20 Filipino families, each huddled around a bed or crib holding their sick…

DOCAT: What I’m doing NOW
After reading the DOCAT, a newly published adaptation of the social doctrine of the Church, one quote stood out to me as a summation of my missionary life and a summation of how my life reflects the ideals talked about in this book: “’God’s love never ends.’ (1 Cor 13:8). He goes after us, looks for us in our caves and hiding places,…
The Transformative Power of Love
I’ve been putting off writing this blog for far too long now. I was sure I would not have the words to truly express my feelings on what I’m about to write about, and I’m still sure that I don’t. But, bear with me as I attempt to share my heart with you. When we arrived in Malaybalay, I met…
Love What Matters
I recently started seeing a lot of posts from the Love What Matters movement on my Facebook feed. It’s touching.. stories, photos, and videos that highlight what’s really important in life, especially when there are so many negative things in the news and in our own lives that try to steal our focus and our joy.
