Matt & Mallory Doktor
Matt (and the girls) and Mallory met at Family Missions Company in 2022.
Matt and his three daughters, Sadie, Sophie, and Eva, went through Intake in 2019 and served in Taiwan for two and half years. The girls attended the local school and became fluent in Chinese, while Matt studied and served the local community. Sadly, while serving in Taiwan, Matt’s late wife and the girls’ mother, Kelly, was diagnosed with cancer which brought them back to the States in 2022 where she passed away surrounded by our loving FMC community.
Meanwhile, Mallory joined FMC in 2020, but her Intake was delayed a year due to COVID. She lived at Big Woods where she participated in the discipleship program and then served and took Spanish classes in Guadalajara, Mexico. After completion of her Intake in 2021, she lived in Peru for a year with Karen Del Castillo and Sarah Ourso serving single mothers and the local community. At the end of 2022, Mallory returned to Big Woods for a time of rest and rejuvenation where she immediately met Matt and the girls. The Lord changed her plans drastically.
Matt and Mallory dated for a year and then were married in May of 2024. They have discerned to create stability for their new family yet continue to feel called to missions–just in a different way than they originally planned. With a heart for the youth, both have said “yes” to the Lord to live Stateside serving kids in different capacities.
Currently, Matt teaches high school theology at the local Catholic school, Vermillion Catholic, in Abbeville, Louisiana where the girls also attend (about 20 minutes from FMC). Mallory works full-time for FMC as the Missionary Kid Care Facilitator on the Member Care team. She meets monthly with kids 11 years and older serving in the foreign field, educates and supports parents raising their children abroad, leads formation sessions for kids six years and older during their Intake, amongst many other things. They are both finding great fulfillment in the work the Lord has called them to.
Please continue to pray for the Doktor family while they radically follow the Lord in this new season of life and service!
